On 26 May 2020, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (“MLVT”) issued a notification on financial support for 33,231 suspended employees (“Employees”) in 111 factories and establishments in the garment and tourism sectors. The employment contracts of these Employees were suspended with approval from the MLVT in accordance with Guideline 045/20 dated 17 April 2020. The Employees are entitled to financial support according to the period of employment contract suspension as follows:
- USD 15 for the Employees under the employment contract suspension for the period of 7 to 10 days;
- USD 30 for the Employees under the employment contract suspension for the period of 11 to 20 days; and
- USD 40 for the Employees under the employment contract suspension for the period of 21 days to 1 month.
Please note that the payment to the Employees under the employment contract suspension period of 21 days to 1 month will be made in 2 installments and the payment to workers under the employment contract suspension period of 2 months will be made in 4 installments. The payment for each installment will be USD 20.
The payments will be made through Wing (Cambodia) Limited Specialised Bank (“Wing”). Wing will send phone message to the Employees and the Employees can claim the payments using their registered mobile number with the MLVT (which received the message from Wing) and national identity card at any nearby Wing agent.
Failure to withdraw the above payments from Wing agents within 10 days after receiving the message from Wing, the payments will be transferred back to the Cambodian Royal Government.
